4/1/18 – Beating Death

There are really only two kinds of people people in the world:  those who are dead and those who are going to be dead.

Death is a game you cannot cheat.  Fame will not intimidate it.  Wealth cannot out outbid it.  Power does not scare it. And intelligence will not outsmart it.  The writer of Hebrews agrees.  “…it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27.

Intellectually we accept the fact of death. But many of us have trouble accepting the fact that we are going to die.  So we joke about it.  Woody Allen said, “It’s not that I am afraid to die, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”  Sorry Woody you will be there.  Remember you cannot cheat death.

And that is the message of Easter.  Jesus said, ” I am the resurrection and the life, the one who believes in me will live, even though they die, John 11:25.

This Sunday I will show you where the problem began, how it manifests itself, and finally the good news of how to beat it.

I hope you have invited friends and family.  Steve Lewis, who will be at our Good Friday service will recount the resurrection from the Apostle John, followed by my message.  The Gospel will be clearly proclaimed.  Please do not miss this chance for your friends and family to beat death.
