Someone has said if you want to be a winner, think like a winner. I prefer this statement, if you want to be like Jesus, think like Jesus. “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped.” (Philippians 2:5).
This is ancient logic, “If it is true (and good) for Jesus (the Greater), then it must be true (and good) for me and you (the lessers). He is asking us to wrap our heads (and hearts) around the what Jesus wrapped His head. Peter learned the inherent danger of not doing this, Matthew 16:23.
This Sunday our focus is the greatest Christological passage in the Bible. It is with fear and trembling I preach it. As I have studied and meditated on it this week, I have found myself on my knees in worship. It is powerfully convicting, personally challenging and intimately revealing of our Lord and Savior.
If any Christian wraps their minds around it every day, they will never be the same.
Here is a challenge, join me in memorizing this passage and mediating on it. Start today. Even if you only memorize the first eleven words by Sunday, you are off to a great start. That is also the first verse!
As a church let’s get our minds wrapped around this passage and think like Jesus.
See you Sunday!
